Formosa Plastics Corporation (commonly referred to as Formosa Plastics) was founded in 1978. Their core business, producing plastic resins and petrochemicals, takes place at their wholly-owned chemical manufacturing subsidiaries located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Point Comfort, Texas.

Formosa Plastics offers a full line of polyvinyl chloride, polyethylene and polypropylene resins, caustic soda and other petrochemicals that deliver the consistency, performance and quality that customers demand. It also provides merchant-grade ethylene dichloride, technical-grade hydrochloric acid and several grades of industrial bleach.

Polyproplene



Formosa Plastics utilizes a unique combination of world-class process technologies to produce a wide range of polypropylene resins. Including custom homopolymers, impact copolymers, random copolymers and thermoplastic olefins (TPOs).

Formolene resin products range from semi-rigid, extremely tough, elastomeric materials to very rigid grades that can withstand severe environments. It offers resins for caps and closures, appliances, automobiles/trucks, furniture, housewares, packaging, films and fibres–all designed for easy processing, durability and chemical resistance. From custom product development to sales, delivery and technical support, every aspect of our growing polypropylene business is focused on meeting our customers’ needs.

 

Suspension PVC



The Company’s Formolon Suspension PVC resins are designed for today’s applications and they actively work with customers to develop resins for tomorrow’s applications. The resins are available in many grades, with inherent viscosities ranging from 0.66 to 1.1 and K values ranging from 56 to 73. They also offer an extensive selection of Dry Blend Compounds.

Examples of end-use applications include pipe, siding, fencing, decking, railing, window & doors, automotive, wire & cable, blown film, medical and many other rigid and flexible applications. As one of the first PVC producers to offer the efficiencies of full-scale vertical integration, they’ve grown the PVC resins business by helping customers succeed. The newest plant in Point Comfort, Texas is designed to produce dispersion, blending and suspension copolymer resins with low moisture and VOC content.
