Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) is an Indian multinational conglomerate company headquartered in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. Reliance offers a wide range of grades for diverse applications across sectors such as packaging, agriculture, automotive, housing, healthcare, water and gas transportation, and consumer durables. Products are also exported to more than 60 countries.

Repol [Polypropylene]

Reliance’s plants employ Spheripol and Adipol technologies from Basell and Unipol Process of Dow Chemicals for manufacturing different grades of Repol, which are exported to more than 30 countries. Products manufactured include homopolymer, random copolymer, and impact copolymer.

 

Renel [Polyethylene]

Reliance's technology for manufacturing polyethylene (PE) includes Du Pont’s world-class & Sclairtech Solution Polymerisation, and also technologies from Basell, Ineos, Polymeric Europa, and Total Petrochemicals. Reliance produces the entire range of polyethylene with international standards and exports them to countries in Europe, Africa, Middle East, and Southeast Asia.

 

Reon [PVC]

Reliance is India's largest manufacturer of suspension grade Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) with a wide range of viscosities. Reliance has adopted the world acclaimed EDC/Ethylene process to ensure consistency in resin quality.

 

Relpipe

Reliance’s state-of-the-art Polyolefins Pipe manufacturing facility is ISO 9001 certified and can process a variety of Polyolefins, including PE 80 and PE 100 resins of international standard. The facility has world-class Battenfeld extrusion lines.

Polyester Staple fiber

Reliance is the world’s largest Polyester Staple fiber manufacturer. Reliance register trademark brand Recron is well known in the market and under this brand, they supply Recron Staple Fiber and Tow, Recron Fiberfill for hollow polyester fiber, Recron 3S for Reinforcement Fibers.

 

Polyester Filament Yarn

Reliance is the world’s largest integrated manufacturer of Polyester fibers and yarns under the Recron® brand name. In Filament yarns reliance produces Recron Partially oriented yarn (POY), Recron Polyester Textured yarn (PTY), Recron Fully Drawn Yarn (FDY), Recron Industrial yarn (IDY).

 

PET Resin.

Reliance is the world's only fully integrated PET resin manufacturer, with the strength of their complete integration (crude oil to PET).  Innovative state-of-the-art technologies from DuPont's UOP USA ensure premium quality PET resins that meet stringent international quality standards. Currently, Relpet® is widely used to make bottles, APET sheets, strappings, and monofilaments. Relpet® is available in various viscosities, starting from 0.76 to 0.84, suitable for a wide range of applications.

Fiber Intermediates



 

The Fiber Intermediates Sector at Reliance consists of the Purified Terephthalic Acid (PTA), Ethylene Glycols (EG) & Ethylene Oxide (EO) businesses. They are amongst the largest global producers of these products – 4th largest in PTA & 6th largest in EG. They have the largest volume share in the domestic market for PTA and EG and are the only merchant supplier of EO in India.

 

Purified Terephthalic Acid (PTA)

RIL is amongst the top 5 PTA producers in the world with a mammoth capacity of 5 MMTPA. Out of this 4.4 MMTPA is in India and the rest is in Malaysia. It has doubled its manufacturing capacity in the last one year by adding world-class facilities at Dahej, amounting to 2.3 MMTPA. 

 

Ethylene Glycols

Reliance produces Mono, Di & Tri Ethylene Glycol (MEG, DEG, TEG) across five locations in Western India. In 2017 they have commissioned a new world-scale MEG plant at Jamnagar with a capacity of 750 KTA. With this, the current capacity has increased to 1500 KTA of MEG. MEG is primarily used in producing Polyester Yarns, Polyester Staple Fibre, PET resin & PET film. It is also used in anti-freeze and coolants, as well as in resins used as adhesives, surface coatings, and enamels.

 

Ethylene Oxide

Reliance produces and markets Pure Ethylene Oxide (PEO) to several customers in India, spread across diverse end-user segments. PEO is used in the manufacture of Ethoxylates, Ethanolamines, PEGs, Glycol Ethers & Drug Intermediates.

 

Aromatics



 

Aromatics are one of the major product lines of the Petrochemical Sector at Reliance Industries Limited (RIL). They have successfully commissioned a new Paraxylene and Benzene facility in 2017; with this their PX capacity is 4.3 MMTPA and Benzene capacity is 1.4 MMTPA. Paraxylene

RIL is the 2nd largest producer of Paraxylene (PX) in the world. With reliance’s Aromatic plants located at different locations. Paraxylene is the building block for the entire polyester industry. It is processed to get Purified Terephthalic Acid (PTA) that is further processed to form polyester fibers / PET.

 

Orthoxylene

RIL with a capacity of 450 KTA is among the top producers of Ortho Xylene in the world. It is produced at the integrated refinery complex at Jamnagar, Gujarat. The major application of Orthoxylene is for the production of Pthalic Anhydride (~90%) with other applications being in paints, fiberglass, PEN, etc.

 

Benzene

Benzene (C6H6) is an aromatic hydrocarbon and one of the primary chemical building blocks for the petrochemical industry. It is a by-product of the Refinery, Naphtha Cracker, Paraxylene, and Steel plant processes. Reliance’s current combined benzene production capacity at Jamnagar, Hazira, and Vadodara is 1400 KTA. They also produce 100KTA of TDI grade Toluene for the domestic market, around  50 KTA of Cyclohexane, and a small quantity of PDEB for the domestic downstream industry as well as for export.

 

Linear Alkyl Benzene (LAB) and Paraffin (NP/HNP/LNP)

RIL is the 7th largest producer of Linear Alkyl Benzene (LAB) in the world with a capacity of 180 KTPA. LAB plants are located at Patalganga, Maharashtra (120 KTPA) and Vadodara, Gujarat (60 KTPA). Both plants are licensed with UOP HF-Alkylation Technology, which is a catalytic process to alkylate Benzene with linear olefins to form LAB. The unit has its own captive Normal Paraffin plant (NP) and also produces Heavy Normal Paraffin (HNP) & Light Normal Paraffins (LNP).

Elastomers



 

Reliance produces synthetic rubber under the brand names Relflex and Reliance Sibur Elastomers Pvt Ltd. Their elastomers are used across a variety of applications, including tyres, footwear, sports goods, rollers, and mechanical fenders, etc.

 

Polybutadiene Rubber

Polybutadiene Rubber (PBR) or simply Butadiene Rubber is one of the oldest offerings of Relflex Elastomers. Marketed under the brand name, Relflex Cisamer, World-class manufacturing facilities (Cobalt and Nickel grades) are located at Vadodara, Gujarat with a combined capacity of 80,000 metric tonnes per year. A state-of-the-art Nickel/Neodymium-based swing plant with a capacity of 40,000 metric tonnes per year has been commissioned at Hazira, Gujarat, thus making Relflex a unique brand offering Cobalt, Nickel, and Neodymium based synthetic grades.

 

Styrene Butadiene Rubber

Stylamer is emulsion grade Styrene Butadiene Rubber (SBR) from Relflex’s elastomer range. The Relflex Stylamer SBR plant is located in Hazira in the state of Gujarat, India. This plant has a capacity of 150 KT per annum and offers the complete range of dry and oil extended grades. It is integrated with the captive butadiene feed that is extracted from the petrochemical complex which is on-site.

 

Butyl Rubber

Butyl Rubber is a synthetic rubber, a copolymer of isobutylene with isoprene. The product is impermeable to air and used in many applications requiring an airtight rubber. Butyl Rubber has good flex properties, resulting from low levels of unsaturation between long poly isobutylene segments. It also has a high level of heat resistance and excellent low-temperature flexibility.

Reliance produces the entire range of polyethylene with international standards and exports them to countries in Europe, Africa, Middle East, and Southeast Asia. Reliance Polymers offers the entire range of Polyethylene (PE) – High Density Polyethylene (HDPE), Linear Low-density Polyethylene (LLDPE) and Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE). HDPE grades are specially designed to meet demanding applications like high-pressure pipes, telecom ducts, carrier bags, woven sacks, and injection and blow-moulded products. LLDPE grades are used extensively in speciality films, milk and edible oil packaging, lamination films, cast films, stretch films and other applications like rotational moulding and injection-moulded products. LDPE grades find extensive use in heavy-duty films, lamination films, extrusion coating and moulding applications.

Repol

Reliance’s plants employ Spheripol and Adipol technologies from Basell and Unipol Process of Dow Chemicals for manufacturing different grades of Repol, which are exported to more than 30 countries. Products manufactured include homopolymer, random copolymer and impact copolymer. Homopolymer is available in a wide range of melt flows and is designed to suit the requirements of various applications such as injection and blow moulding, IPP and BOPP films, woven sacks, FIBC and fibres. Random copolymer grades are designed to meet critical requirements of injection and blow-moulded clear containers, pipes and fittings and ISBM bottles. Impact Copolymer grades are tailored to meet the requirements of various applications such as automotive, appliances, furniture, paint pails, caps and closures, luggage, crates and compounding.
